Production Manager Primary Focus: The Production Manager shall be responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of production and operation workers (approximately 35 to 40 employees on 2 shifts ), such as assemblers, inspectors, machine operators, maintenance staff and system operators. The Production Manager shall ensure that production schedules are created and completed on time, safely, and within budget. Specific Accountabilities: Direct the manufacturing workforce to achieve production goals. Enforce safety and sanitation regulations. Provide leadership and ownership of product quality while consulting with Quality Assurance staff on quality issues; accountable for the overall QA performance of the manufacturing unit. Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints and production issues. Monitor production schedule and take action to meet schedule deadlines. Provide motivation for employees, increasing morale. Increase worker efficiency and production rates. Monitor and assess employee’s performance, attendance, scheduling etc. Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion, within budget. Maintain safe work practices. Perform all duties in accordance with the company's safety program standards. Ensure safety is a priority with all workers, oversee strict adherence to Alberta and Canadian Occupational Health and Safety guidelines. Work with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments. Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training. Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules and other records / reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs Read and review of manufacturing engineering packages and provide improvement feedback. Other duties as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Degree or diploma in related field is an asset but not a requirement. 3 or more years’ experience as a production supervisor or manager is considered an asset. Production/manufacturing experience preferred. Training and knowledge of Six Sigma techniques, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing are desirable. A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills. Direct working knowledge of operations, quality, and transportation is an asset. Knowledge of supplies, equipment, as well as inventory control of items. Experience in managing third-party service providers. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel an asset. Knowledge of local and federal regulations including AOHS and Employment Standards Code. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team. Strong customer service orientation. First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets Production floor safety issues.
