Are you an excellent communicator, have a passion for health, science or international development and looking for a challenge to put your creative skills to use? There is an exciting new opportunity to manage communications for the International Centre for Eye Health (ICEH) at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. ICEH are seeking a creative and passionate expert to develop and deliver their communications activities in line with ICEH vision and values. The role would incorporate the communication activities of programmes such as the Commonwealth Eye Health Consortium (CEHC) and the Community Eye Health Journal (CEHJ) including the recently launched CEHJ App. The Centre has an international profile in the field of global eye health, through research, educational and capacity development activities. This role would be key in strengthening internal and external communications around ICEH work and related activities therefore is considered very important in the overall strategy for the coming years. Reporting to the ICEH Operations Manager and accountable to Matthew Burton, ICEH Director, main responsibilities will include developing and implementing communications strategies; redeveloping the ICEH brand; managing websites; producing and managing social media content; developing policy briefs; producing e-newsletters; writing and designing reports and working closely with the Press Office on media activity. The successful candidate will have experience of developing and delivering successful communications strategies, and an understanding of how to engage with a range of audiences and maintain effective working relationships multicultural and multidisciplinary environment; excellent organisational skills and ability to coordinate and prioritise a complex workload is essential. Communications experience or a background in areas of science, health or international development is a must and a Higher Education degree relevant to Public Health or International Development and/or relevant professional experience or training is an advantage. Further particulars are included in the attached job description. This full-time post, based in London, is funded initially for one year with a possible extension. The salary will be on the Professional Support Grade 5 scale in the range of £34,854 to £40,011 per annum, (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff.
