What will you do as Mechanical Engineer? You will become part of the CAD domain within the Product Circle as a specialist in mechanical (concept) design. Your week will be dynamic. You will work with highly motivated and talented colleagues on several challenging mechanical topics. After several meetings in the previous weeks you have worked out various concepts. With the aim of supporting our engineering department in making the right choices. After putting in a lot of effort you will present three possible scenarios on Monday. After the decision is made on Tuesday you will dive into detail and deliver a complex and detailed part design to substantiate the decision. On Thursday you will welcome, guide and improve the way of work with a co-development partner on a complex module. On Friday you will enjoy our epic Friday afternoon drinks having a highly contributed feeling about the achieved result this week. Building the way forward for Lightyear. In short; never a dull day. Your job will focus on but is not limited to: Retrieving information from all relevant stakeholders and transferring different ideas into valid CAD concepts (front-end engineering) Participating in the iterative process together with different engineering teams to create optimal components with a critical and pragmatic view on costs, quality, timing and manufacturability On designated projects design and develop specific components independently and/ or in a team context including detailing of parts and the Bill of Materials (BOM) Cooperate with relevant stakeholders within the organization such as Structural-, CAE Engineers and System Architects Setting up and perfecting procedures related to CAD engineering ensuring a correct, logical work structure with associated product documentation and administration Creating and maintaining tolerance stacks and setting the standard for GD&T Guiding external parties and co-development partners within your domain What do we expect from a Mechanical Engineer at Lightyear? In order to succeed in the dynamic world of Lightyear pro-activity, professionalism, communication and adaptability are crucial. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with an ambitious attitude who learned from the past but who strives to set new standards in the future. You know how to combine the "tried and tested" with an intelligent dose of creativity and thinking outside of the box. Furthermore we are looking for someone with: Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering or similar 5 - 10 years of full time experience within automotive engineering, aerospace or related fields Extensive experience with a lot of "flying hours" gained along the way in Catia V5 and/ or Catia 3DExperience is considered a must Ability and a proven track record to transfer abstract ideas into solid concepts in a pragmatic way Ability, willingness and proven track record to work on detailing when necessary Experience in packaging and the integration of different modules Broad knowledge of different ways of manufacturing; stamping, sheet metal, injection moulding etc Ability to work in dynamical multidisciplinary teams Ability to support and give advice on mechanical (CAD) specific processes and way of working Experience in PLM Fluent in English is mandatory (Dutch is considered a plus) Availability for 40 hours per week On a personal level you can relate to the following characteristics; above all you are highly pragmatic.
