Contact Stuart Clark, Executive Director, at [email removed] Summary The HR Advisor will primarily be responsible for supporting the Lift Management Team in maintaining an empowered and resilient workforce, and administer the day-to-day aspects of HR management. This role will identify current and prospective staffing requirements, prepare and post notices and advertisements, collect and screen applications, support Lift Managers with personnel management, including wage increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions in compliance with company policies. This role will also oversee the orientation/onboarding of new hires and support the training of all employees. The HR Advisor must possess 3-5 years of progressive HR Generlist experience and a graduate degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the industry and a Certificate in Human Resource Management is preferred. Competencies Coaching Communication Conflict Management Cultural Sensitivity Health and Safety Leadership Managing Performance Duties and Responsibilities Development **for the first several months, this position will be focused on the development and improvement of Lift's HR system, including: Developing / re-developing a core set of HR related templates and forms Leading the transition to a new semi-annual performance review system Leading the finalization of the BambooHR Human Resources Information System Leading the development of a leadership training program Advising and supporting the development of new HR policies and practices focused on staff development and internal communications Coordinating the review and renewal of Lift's core policies with support from the Lift Management Team and Board of Directors Governance Committee. Staff Development Screen all applicants and coordinate/advise and participate on recruitment process for hiring managers; coordinates applicant tracking system. Coordinate and support hiring manager on new employee orientation and training Administer performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization. Coordinate and suport all Lift Supervisors with the semi-annual performance review process. Provide leadership and coaching to managers and employees on key workplace matters such as performance management, difficult conversations, employee relations, and employee development. Staff Support Coordinate management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and respectful workplace. Develop Leadership Training program (situational leadership and styles, managing performance, providing feedback and recognition, performance evaluations, interview skills). Determine areas of growth for employees, identifying additional training as needed. Relationship Building Act as HR resource for any and all staff questions or concerns, and is available for confidential support as needed. Organize social activities to build relationships between team members; set up social committee or similar. Commit to regular corporate communication, sharing awareness and updates; develop communication norms and systems. Advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues/ staff conflict. Handle employee complaints and incidents, including conflict resolution, accidents, health and safety concerns, work refusals, and investigations. HR Administration Maintain competitive compensation plan; administer salary administration program to ensure compliance and equity within organization. Communicate policy clarifications to managers regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits. Consult as needed to ensure that policies comply with best practices and/or applicable laws. Develop and maintain BambooHR system to meet HR management information needs. Oversee the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization. Review policies on a schedule. Develop offer letters and employment agreements; coordinate signing. Identify legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions and ensure policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance. Study legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective bargaining contracts to assess industry trends. Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs. Administer benefits programs such as life, health, and dental insurance, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance. Advise management on managing staff on short or long-term leaves and Return to Work planning. This includes answering staff person questions about short term leave options and connecting with LTD benefits provider as needed. Investigate accidents and prepare reports for insurance carrier. Coordinate Safety Committee meetings and act as OH&S lead for the organization and oversee safety audits and logging systems at all worksites. Conduct wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rate. Serve as point person for online criminal record checks. Maintain Critical Incident Report tracking. Update and maintain all forms; migrate to BambooHR as appropriate (e.g. Pro-D requests). Policy Manual review (in conjunction with ED and Governance committee). Prepare templates and forms for HR-related purposes. Job Requirements 3-5 years of progressive HR Generalist experience Graduate in business administration, management, or a related field is preferred Certificate in Human Resource Management preferred CHRP preferred Proven ability to develop and implement training and development courses Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation specific to our organization Strong coaching and conflict resolution skills Experience managing STD, LTD, and return to work programs Experience with employee development Proven experience preparing and conducting post-implementation evaluations A well defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills Work conditions Working in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions Interaction with employees, management, and the public at large Attendance and conducting of presentations
