Location: Kingston, ON Job Summary: If you are looking to work with a smart and energetic team, while taking on a role in the commercialization of our technology, we have an opportunity for you. Li-Cycle is currently undergoing rapid change with the construction of its first Commercial Facility (Rochester, NY) and scaling up of operations at its Commercial Demonstration Plant (Kingston, ON). As a part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work with the R&D team in coordinating the operations of the demonstration plant and continuously look for ways to optimize its operation. Job Responsibilities: Working with our Engineering and Construction Management team, you will support: Review of technical documentation (drawings and specifications) and project budget development from an ‘Owner’s Engineer’ perspective as the project progresses Selection of site-level construction contractors through an RFP process Oversight of construction activities including budget, productivity, progress, and safety of employees and subcontractors. Attend construction site meetings and conduct site visits, as needed Coordination with regulatory groups to facilitate communication and information exchange for obtaining the necessary approvals and maintaining compliance Working with the R&D team, you will: Interact with a contract scale-up facility to ensure proper operation of the Demonstration Plant Leverage fundamental engineering competencies to provide value-adding interpretation of results Incorporate demonstration plant findings to optimize/refine the clean technology design criteria Job Qualifications: University degree in Mechanical Engineering 1-3 years of directly related work experience Ability to converse and collaborate with multiple departments spanning multiple disciplines Working knowledge of risk analysis and relevant legislative compliance Proven track record in managing large project budgets Ability to identify key financial performance indicators and their relationship with project indicators Excellent grasp of diverse, fundamental mechanical engineering concepts and relationships Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision Ability to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures, and design documents High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite Strong work ethic and positive team attitude Core Competencies: Consistently delivers quality work on time, with a strong attention to detail Positive attitude with a focus on continuous learning Strong oral communication, technical writing and editing skills Proactive and self-starter with an "owner's mindset" Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills Additional Competencies: Experience in a contract laboratory setting as part of past work term experience Past engineering firm experience, focused on process development and/or discipline engineering Extracurricular involvement and/or leadership Benefits of Working for Li-Cycle: High impact work: as a core member of the team, you have the opportunity to take an active lead role and make a significant impact Global environmental impact: we are a clean technology company with a mission to reduce CO2 emissions globally to ensure a sustainable future for the environment Passionate team: we are pushing boundaries and are passionate about everything we do About Li-Cycle: Li-Cycle is on a mission to leverage its innovative solution to address an emerging and urgent global challenge.
