Planning Arborist - Vegetation Management Officer Full time ongoing position within a supportive team environment Utilise your skills in the assessment of Trees and Vegetation and contribute to Council's goals of greening Kingston and expanding the urban forest Be responsible for providing technical advice to the Statutory Planning team in matters relating to Planning Permit applications including permit conditions and assessment of landscape plans lodged for Council’s approval. The role Kingston City Council protects trees and other vegetation using a number of mechanisms, including the Community Local Law at the local level and Kingston Planning Scheme level with the Significant Tree Register managed by the Environmental Significance Overlay – Schedule 3 (ESO3) and at the State level at Clause 52.17 (Native Vegetation). As part of the Vegetation Management Team you will be exposed to a range of daily functions, including providing technical advice to the Statutory Planning team in matters relating to planning permit conditions and assessment of landscape plans lodged for Council’s approval. About you The successful candidate will hold a tertiary education in Arboriculture (minimum certificate 5) and will have a passion for trees, vegetation and natural landscapes. You will have also the ability to provide clear and concise advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders in relation to vegetation. Your understanding of Australian standards, protection of trees on development sites, the principles of tree assessments and pruning of amenity trees will ensure your success in this role.
