About the International Content Team Our international content team works with translators around the world to make our educational materials available in over 50 languages. We work with content creators, localization coordinators, international volunteers, engineers, and other internal and external stakeholders to make sure Khan Academy’s international offering is high quality and widely available. About the International Operations Coordinator Role We’re looking for a driven, focused team member to manage the complex operations required to keep our translations programs running in dozens of languages. You’ll provide project planning and execution support, and work directly with translators in dozens of countries. Efficiency, attention to detail, flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and ability to handle multiple projects and tasks while using good judgment are critical in this role to ensure smooth operation of the team. Job Responsibilities Coordinate translation efforts for the Khan website and mobile apps, working with engineers, internal language teams, and volunteer language advocates Vet, onboard, and train new language teams Create and maintain various types of documentation for language advocates, as well as publicly available resources (E.g. translator helpdesk) Remotely support both external and internal language teams, via email/forum and video calls, building a sense of community with individuals from around the globe, and advocating for their needs. About You You are passionate about international educational equity, and interested in other languages (even if you don’t speak them) You are extremely detail-oriented and have excellent project management skills, including the ability to organize and manage workflows, establish priorities for multiple projects and tasks, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks You have an entrepreneurial mindset, including a high tolerance for ambiguity, a penchant for experimentation, and a bias towards action You create and execute scalable and efficient processes that set the international content team up for success You can work independently without much oversight, knowing when to ask questions or raise issues when needed You are a strong communicator, equipped with different strategies for engaging with different audiences and people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds You have experience supporting, training, and building community among a diverse group of stakeholders, such as our amazing volunteer language advocates You are comfortable using and learning a variety of software tools (e.g. Jira, Crowdin), and troubleshooting those tools when they don’t behave as expected You think expansively about your “team,” with a history of working collaboratively and cross-functionally to achieve shared success in organization-wide goals and projects You are a problem solver by nature, and are comfortable gathering and analyzing data to draw actionable conclusions You are invigorated by the possibility of helping provide a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere, in any language 2+ years work experience in operations or project management, or related roles Nice to have Degree in linguistics or technical field Experience in software localization or internationalization, and/or experience in educational technology About our benefits We may be a non-profit, but we reward our talented team extremely well!
