About KNAUF INSULATION
Knauf Insulation North America was founded in 1978 as Knauf Fiber Glass when the Knauf family purchased an existing fiberglass production facility in Shelbyville, Indiana. As an already well-established building material manufacturer in Europe, Knauf began an ambitious renovation program to modernize the plant and increase its capacity. The North American company started with 450 employees in 1978 and has since grown to over 1,900 people in multiple facilities across the United States. Knauf is a family company founded in 1932 by the brothers Karl and Dr. Alfons N. Knauf. Today, their sons steer the success of the corporation's many building materials enterprises in close coordination with the family. From its beginnings in gypsum processing over in Germany, Knauf has expanded and diversified. It is now a multinational corporation delivering a wide variety of insulation materials and many other building products.. At Knauf Insulation we have always been defined by sustainability. Our products save energy, cut emissions and are designed to make sure buildings are good for the environment and keep people healthy, safe and well. But sustainability is a process of continuous improvement. We need to build on our successes. We must do more for our people and our environment. We have set ourselves four important long-term goals for the future: Put People First — We know a better world can start at work. That’s why we will ensure our communities and people thrive, safely. Achieve Zero Carbon — Our big ambition is to go small. We will minimize the impact of our products, plants and offices. Deliver a Circular Economy — We must do more with less. We will use more recycled materials than ever in our products and find more ways to use resources that have minimal environmental impact. Create Better Buildings — Buildings play a vital role in creating a better world. We will continue to innovate and create new eco-friendly solutions to make buildings fit for the future.
