Our client, a fast paced chilled Food Manufacturer based in Shropshire, is looking for a Food Safety Technologist to be the Food Safety champion for the site and ensure that the site is recognised as being forward thinking in terms of Food Safety. Reporting to the Technical Manager, responsibilities for the role will include: · Developing, implementing and maintaining an effective food safety plan based on HACCP, ensuring the company's due diligence is satisfied · Assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of an effective TACCP / Vulnerability plan · Conducting horizon scanning for the site with any alerts being acted upon · Ensuring the site’s thermal / cooling processing in production, operations and processes are performed perfectly every time · Ensuring the preservation and correct quality standards of food products produced on site by heat and chilling are set within the correct parameters · Assisting and ensuring the site conducts shelf life validation for all products and processes · Working with NPD to ensure the correct standards are set for the hygiene, microbiological, allergen and foreign body standards for the production of customer products, and ensuring the product specifications are implemented · Ensuring that the environment and process equipment are of the correct hygiene standard and cleaned at correct frequency · Working with NPD to review and sign off, at the correct frequency, nutritional and chemical results to ensure specification is achieved and correct label information / legal requirements are met · Working with NPD to ensure specifications and packaging complies with relevant legislation and customer / internal requirements · Conducting gap analysis to ensure the business has the necessary technical compliance tools to meet both customer codes of practice, legal requirements and any site accreditation specific to food manufacturing / safety · Deputising for the Technical Services Manager when necessary Essential / Desirable skills include: · Experience within a similar role with Food Manufacturing · Methodical with a strong attention to detail and a systematic approach · Excellent communication skills · Great organisational and time-management skills The Company: · Part of an award-winning group · One of the largest employers in the area · Success driven through a team of passionate people who inspire customers through excellence in quality food, innovation and integrity Working hours for the role are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm (4pm on a Friday), offering a salary of £27k per annum.
