The duties of the University Student Aid is to obtain work experience on campus in offices, labs, gym, the library, and other areas. Duties may include assisting staff and faculty with preparation for research, classroom instruction, departmental operational needs, or performing administrative and other support duties as required. Positions may be filled based on individual applicants’ skills, qualification and departmental needs. Supports clerical and administrative staff on assigned tasks, which may include typing, filing, scanning documents, answering the phone, greeting visitors, etc. Receives assignments orally or in writing. Reads documents written in English. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information. Assigns and edits features stories, designs feature pages, posts feature material to newspaper's Web site and various social media. Other duties as needed. Physical Requirements: Speaks and listens to others, both in person and over the telephone, and speaks to groups. Reads documents written in English. Uses a computer keyboard and monitor. Must be able to lift newspaper bundles. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) in English. Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse body of faculty, staff and students. Possesses relevant academic, computer and administrative skills for the position. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information. Must be able to use a Macintosh computer. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least three (3) hours per fall or spring semester. If not a first time student, applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher. Applicants must attach under "Transcript" an unofficial copy of their student transcript as evident of student enrollment and GPA. Must have a professional attitude and appearance. Must work well wit others. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Must have successfully completed COM 200, and 315 with a "C" or higher grade. ***Notice Regarding International Students: Due to Visa requirements international students must be enrolled as a full-time student taking a least 12 hours (per fall or spring semester) and possess each of the following; Passport from their respective country. F-1 Student visa orJ-1 Exchange Student Visa. U.S. Customs Form I-94. Official photo identification. Official Social Security Card imprinted with "Valid for Work Only" or similar statement.
