Warehouse & Distribution Manager Hours: 45 Hours per week Hours of work may vary but candidates will need to be flexible as additional hours including weekends will be required to meet the needs of the business and the role Salary: Competitive dependent on skills experience The Role As the Warehouse and Distribution Manager you will be accountable for the storage and distribution of goods. You must also ensure that we adhere and meet all warehouse accreditation and transport regulations. In this role you will ensure that the right products are delivered to the right location on time and at a good cost. You will also be responsible for transportation, stock control, warehousing and monitoring the flow of goods. Understanding the whole supply chain is important so that you can coordinate it effectively and liaise with suppliers of raw materials, manufacturers, retailers and consumers. The working environment is 90% warehouse and 10% in the office so you need to be hands on and lead by example Responsibilities As a Warehouse and Distribution Manager you will need to: Manage 2 shift Managers, 1 transport Manager and a team of circa 40 warehouse and transport staff: Ensure that the warehouse team pick to the required rates to enable deliveries to go out accurately and on time; use IT systems to manage stock levels, delivery times and transport costs; use associated information systems to coordinate and control the order cycle; use data from IT systems to evaluate performance, quality and to plan improvements; allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs; staff management; liaise and negotiate with customers and suppliers; develop business by gaining new contracts, analysing logistical problems and producing new solutions; understand, work with and possibly help to develop e-commerce; Continually try to improve and develop business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising environmental pressures; Help implement and ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to; manage staff training issues; motivate other members of the team; set objectives; plan and manage projects; work on new supply strategies; plan vehicle routes; may be required to drive and deliver goods to customers to ensure customer needs are met The candidate The successful candidate must: Be located within a 30-minute drive to Nottingham as call out duties will be part of the role Have experience in Managing and working in a large-scale warehouse and distribution role with a lean structure Have experience in a Logistics & Warehouse distribution senior management role (ideally foodservice) Have experience with working in a fast moving business and environment and be able to take pressure Have an excellent understanding of good customer service and will take ownership of issues/complaints with customers and staff to manage the appropriate resolutions, formally and informally. Be proactive and able to manage their time effectively, in a calm manner, in a highly pressurised and demanding environment. Have excellent people management skills, be capable of communicating effectively with company Directors, your managers and team and work closely with other internal customers to ensure the effective operation of the warehouse function. Have a dynamic nature and be very hands on Be loyalty and committed to the role and Company a logical and systematic approach to work; the ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions; commercial awareness and numeracy skills; some degree of IT literacy and the ability to handle electronic data; the ability to manage change; negotiation and analytical skills; As a key holder you will participate in an on call rota with other Managers for any security issues/breaches out of hours and will be required to comply with security requirements when opening and locking the store.
