JLR’s team is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Mechanical Technologist with 6 – 11 years of mechanical design experience related to building systems in the commercial, institutional, and industrial markets. The ideal candidate will be skilled in mechanical building system design, adept at preparing design drawings using AutoCAD and Revit, and relish in the opportunity to find solutions to design challenges. Roles and Responsibilities Work with a design team across all of JLR’s offices as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary project team; Assisting mechanical engineers and other technologists with project execution during all project phases; Apply fundamentals and engineering tools to design piping, ductwork, and related systems; Complete site work and assist with contract administration during construction; Assist in the preparation of mechanical bids and construction drawings and documents; and Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders; Skills and Qualifications Mechanical Technology Diploma from a recognized post-secondary school; 6 – 11 years of relevant mechanical design experience; OACETT designation or eligibility for designation; Sound understanding of engineering fundamentals to resolve new challenges; Proficiency in the current version of AutoCAD. Proficiency in Revit will be considered an asset; Applied knowledge of the following standards and design guidelines as a minimum: ASHRAE, SMACNA, ACGIH, NFPA, OBC, NBC. Knowledge of OHSA Regulation 854 mines & mining plant will be considered an asset; Good understanding of drafting principals and standards; 3D piping drafting ability considered an asset; Familiarity with the design methodology of buildings, mining and industrial facilities; Ability to produce quality deliverables and to monitor project tasks; Excellent analytic, oral, and written communication skills; Driven self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment; and Valid driver’s license.
