Investec Corporate and Investment Banking (“CIB”) division provides Investment Banking, Specialist Finance and Trading capabilities to a range of Corporate & Institutional clients. The CIB Finance Control team supports the business with the production of financial and management reporting as well as implementing controls. The team also assists with the development of reporting and operational infrastructure. This team supports the Treasury, Trading and Investment desks within the CIB division of the bank. The role sits in a sub-team within the wider CIB Finance team of approximately 30 people. They will work closely with numerous divisions across the bank in an environment that is conducive to personal development and growth. What will you be doing? Daily P&L production for the Credit Investments desk and liaison with traders Provide daily P&L cover for the Central Treasury & Collateral Management desk desks Financial analysis and detailed commentary of significant movement and variances in income statement and balance sheet Processing of daily source system to general ledger interface Performing reconciliation between the ledger, source systems and risk/capital systems, including investigation and timely resolution of breaks Raising quarterly retainer invoices for Research clients Inputting invoices to the ledger & credit control Assisting the team as required Liaison with internal/external audit and all areas of the bank in an advisory and problem solving capacity Develop relationships with other support functions (e.g. Front Office, CIB Finance sub teams, Regulatory Reporting, Operations, Risk, IT, Group Finance, Internal/External Audit) Ensure a strong control environment to ensure operational risk is minimised Understand capital markets products and application of relevant IFRS, particularly IFRS9 for new products and structures Analyse processes and systems and initiate change/enhancements to reduce manual process resulting in more efficient reporting and reduced operational risk About you Technical Skills Degree educated or Part-Qualified Accountant Mathematical/engineering background (advantageous) Interest in financial services & accounting Willing to work towards accounting qualification (preferable) Strong academics (essential) Proficient in use of the MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel Systematic approach in analysing and solving problems with good attention to detail Ability to evaluate and interpret data from a variety of sources Personal skills Team Player Proactive, have initiative & drive, willing to take on extra responsibility Commercially aware Excellent communication skills - both oral and written Confident manner Creative and willing to work in a constantly changing environment Ability to prioritise About Investec Investec is a distinctive Specialist Bank serving clients principally in the UK, Australia and South Africa.
