About the Position: As an International Project Engineer, you will lead the technical evaluation and design of commercial and utility-scale solar and wind energy projects in Invenergy’s target markets in Latin America, Japan, Israel, and potentially other regions. Responsibilities: Manage detailed layout design for Invenergy’s development pipeline of international solar and wind energy projects. Evaluate project siting constraints, solar module, inverter, and racking technologies, BOS (balance of system) considerations, turbine technologies, and wind and solar resource data to maximize project value Analyze available meteorological datasets and utilize MCP (measure-correlate-predict) methodology to assess project resource characteristics Utilize performance modeling software to prepare project energy yield assessments and other production profile deliverables such as 8760s and production diurnals Collaborate with the international business development and project management teams to identify and evaluate international development prospects, assess local markets, and ascertain region specific technical requirements for solar and wind projects. Represent Invenergy with key regional partners and stakeholders. Conduct site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence efforts. Meet with local partners and project stakeholders to facilitate exchange of technical information and to assess region-specific project requirements. Interface with solar module, inverter, and racking manufacturers and wind turbine manufacturers to obtain technical information and stay apprised of technology advancements, pricing, and regional market trends. Understand any local or region-specific requirements that may inform procurement decisions. Collaborate with the international business development team to support region-specific permitting and approval efforts Work with the structured finance team to provide responses to lender and independent engineer due diligence questions throughout the project financing process Interface with the project management and operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations. Ensure timely and complete transfer of technical responsibilities. Up to 50% travel as needed. Required Skills: Fluency or full professional fluency in English and at least one other language; preference for Spanish, Japanese, and Hebrew. Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or relevant physical science such as physics, atmospheric science/meteorology, earth science, or environmental science. Master’s degree is a plus. Approximately two to five years of experience supporting the engineering, design, and/or construction of renewable energy projects. Familiarity with solar module, inverter, and racking technology along with key general solar technology trends. Knowledge of wind, energy storage, and distributed generation technologies is a plus. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Microsoft Project experience is a plus. Ability to critically evaluate development challenges and creatively apply experience to unconventional situations. Flexibility to travel internationally and work across multiple time zones. Strong leadership, interpersonal, prioritization, and time management skills. Ability to multi-task while managing multiple projects and multiple engineering team initiatives. Demonstrated interest in renewable energy. Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds. Preferred Skills: Understanding of statistical analysis and linear regression models, preferably as it pertains to meteorological data sources and MCP methodology. Experience with statistical modeling programs such as R is a plus. MATLAB and/or Python is also a plus. Experience with modeling solar energy project economics and familiarity with concepts such as NPV, IRR and LCOE. Familiarity with PVSyst, System Advisory Model (SAM), Windographer, Openwind, and/or AutoCAD Civil. Experience developing utility scale wind and solar projects in international markets.
