IFC is looking for talented people to create opportunities for private investment in developing countries. We call this working Upstream. We have embarked on an ambitious new growth strategy to stimulate investment activity to address complex development challenges, which calls for proactively working Upstream to create, deepen, and expand markets and to imagine, design and implement investment projects. To deliver on this strategy, we are hiring Upstream Analysts/Officers/Senior Officers with experience in one or more of the following sectors: Agribusiness, Banking, Education, Health, Housing Finance, Insurance, Manufacturing, Media, Microfinance, Retail and Property, Technology, Telecommunications, Transport, Tourism, Urban Development and Municipal Infrastructure, Water and Wastewater. Positions will be based in Washington, D.C. and our regional offices in Almaty, Amman, Bogota, Cairo, Dakar, Delhi, Dubai, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Johannesburg, Karachi, Mexico City, Mumbai, Nairobi, Rabat, Sao Paulo, Singapore, Tashkent and Vienna, among other locations. Working Upstream includes: Identifying, assessing and prioritizing Upstream opportunities based on country and sector strategies and market creation potential; Designing and implementing activities (e.g. feasibility studies) that could lead to potential IFC-financed investments; Developing scalable solutions and platforms that can be replicated across markets; Spotting game-changing trends, technologies and business models that can help bring solutions to emerging markets; and Working with the World Bank and other stakeholders to identify sector and regulatory reforms that are needed to unlock opportunities for private investment. We are looking for people with the capacity to innovate and challenge the status quo and a proven track record in new idea generation, strategic business development, and creating projects/programs from scratch.
