As an Associate Knowledge Engineer you will work on our proprietary platform for text understanding and analytics. As a member of the Data Science team you will contribute to cutting-edge technologies that help protect advertisers from being linked to unsavory content found all over the internet by classifying online material as brand-unsafe, across channels and formats: open web, mobile apps, walled gardens, video. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, dedicated, detail-oriented with a strong desire to work with awesome people in a highly collaborative environment. You should be able to not take yourself too seriously as well. What you'll do: Carry out linguistic analyses of text documents in order to help computer algorithms understand their meaning. Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers and project managers during the software development cycle, to create and maintain the natural language processing knowledge engine that will scale the automation of document analysis. Work with editorial tools to classify web pages and mobile apps into content categories (brand-unsafe topics like "Hate speech" or subject categories like "Sports" or "Finance"). Analyze advertising log data to detect patterns and provide qualitative analyses. Have a lot of fun with the two fundamental problems of natural language processing: ambiguity and linguistic variation. This is not a management position. Who you are and what you have: 0-1 years of experience. Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Computational Linguistics, Digital Humanities, Foreign Languages and Literatures, Interpreting and Translation, Linguistics or equivalent qualifications in the linguistic/humanistic field. Fluent English and Italian. Excellent knowledge of at least one of the following languages: Spanish/French/German. Ability to communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing. Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines under minimum supervision. What puts you over the top: Knowledge of content management best practices. Experience in creating and managing taxonomies or ontologies. Experience working with specialized programs such as annotation software or search applications. Some basic scripting skills (Python, SQL). Experience with language technology and quantitative approaches to the study of language. Basic level of technical knowledge, such as introductory coursework or self-study in computer programming, statistics, data science, or similar field. Experience working with specialized programs such as annotation software or search applications. Some familiarity with formal logic. Good understanding of regular expressions.
