2 research positions for Research Grants (“Bolsa de Investigação de LIcenciado“) are open at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of the Project FRIENDS (PTDC/EEI-ROB/28799/2017): Fleet of dRones for radIological inspEction, commuNication anD reScue, funded by FCT/MEC through national funds. The work for this position is in the area of drones communication and control. Scientific Area: Networks and Multimedia Group: Network Architectures and Protocols – Av Admission Requirements: Bachelor's degree in telecommunications engineering, informatics and telematics engineering, or equivalent, with knowledge in the area of communication networks, great-motivation and ability for teamwork. Work Objectives: Scholarship 1: Definition, implementation and evaluation of an autonomous aerial drone control in a network mesh of drones. Scholarship 2: Definition, implementation and evaluation of a machine learning approach to dynamically allocate aerial drones to extend a wireless network. Applicable legislation: A fellowship will be celebrated according to the regulations defined by FCT, “Regulation of Instituto de Telecomunicações’ fellowships” and ” Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação”, according to Law no. 40/2004, dated August 18 (Status of Scientific Research Fellow), in its actual redaction, and also by Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P. Duration: Duration: 6 months with the possibility of renewal. Start date: March 2020 (or soon thereafter). Monthly salary: 798€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores). The payment will be made by bank transfer.
