INDEPENDENT ELECTRICITY SYSTEM OPERATOR Location: Toronto Temporary: Yes, up to 12 months General Accountabilities The Junior Contract Analyst is accountable to the Manager, FIT and microFIT in the Contract Management group and is primarily responsible for assisting with the management of microFIT and FIT electricity supply contracts for the Province of Ontario resulting from directives received from the Minister of Energy. Responsibilities: The Junior Contract Analyst will provide analytical and administrative support including, but not limited to, the following responsibilities: Assisting with the management and administration of microFIT and FIT electricity supply contracts. Tasks may include assisting with: monitoring and tracking of Supplier deliverables required in the contracts to ensure timely and accurate submissions perform analysis and verification of Supplier reports that are required in the contracts Technical and financial analysis related to microFIT and FIT contracts Tasks may include: using existing IESO analytical tools to conduct data analysis modifying, updating, and adapting existing IT tools designing and developing new IT tools developing and executing ad-hoc analysis approaches for one-off requests Conduct research on topics and issues related to FIT and microFIT contracts. Information resources could include: internet, conferences / technical sessions, internal content experts, external industry experts, utilities / government agencies in other jurisdictions, consultants, developers, and Ontario government agencies. Independently gather relevant information from various sources Distill key information, facts, and concepts from potentially large volumes of information Assemble distilled information to produce concise research reports / memorandums on findings Create and deliver presentations to team on findings Selection Criteria Post-secondary education in Engineering or Business (Commerce or Economics) is preferred; 2+ years of progressive industry experience; and 2-5 years of technical experience Knowledge of Ontario electricity and renewable energy sectors and the regulatory environment Knowledge of the technical aspects of electricity generation, including renewable forms of electricity generation (e.g. biomass, wind, hydro) Demonstration of excellent analytical, financial modeling (using excel/ VBA), problem solving and presentation skills – able to analyze raw data, draw conclusions and develop practical recommendations Demonstration of strong understanding of business principles and processes as they relate to technology Knowledge and ability to create/edit stand-alone Access/Excel tools Ability to generate high quality reports Strong planning and coordinating skills to organize own priorities and workflow Honed interpersonal skills, comfortable presenting findings internally or externally Typical Contacts: Internal: Director, Renewables Procurement Manager, Renewable Generation Procurement Director, Contract Management Planner, Power System Planning Information Technology External: Counter-parties to supply contracts Ontario Energy Board (OEB) Ministry of Energy and other relevant Government Agencies Local Distribution Companies (LDC’s) What the IESO Offers: Competitive market wages Comprehensive benefit programs Programs and policies to support a balanced lifestyle A challenging fast-paced team environment Opportunity to work with some of the brightest people in the industry While we appreciate your submissions, we regret that we can only contact those candidates selected for interviews.
