Position Responsibilities: IPS is hiring! We are looking for a talented Lead Process Mechanical Engineer to join our industry leading Process Engineering team to be based out of our EMEA headquarters, located in Birmingham, UK. Reorting to the Head of Process Mechanical Engineering, the Lead Process Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the advance of IPS’ position as a knowledge leader in the Life Sciences industries. This role requires communication with the vendor and contractor community to stay abreast of the latest developments, and communication with IPS’ customer base to manage perception of IPS’ relevance in the industry. The role also requires the ability to produce conceptual level design deliverables and reports, to produce system specification documentation, and to collaborate with teams producing derivative design deliverables. Ideally, the candidate has extensive knowledge of process design and operations in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Job Duties and Responsibilities Provide expertise in process technology on applicable IPS design projects. Maintain knowledge of the state of the art of process technology. Lead process design projects in which equipment and system specification and selection are key project drivers. Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems. Prepare specification documentation for Life Sciences industry process systems and equipment. Consult with Lead Process Engineers regarding the production of design deliverables, such as Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, and Equipment Specifications in the area of process engineering. Generate front-end design deliverables, including schematic diagrams, capacity analyses, equipment capacity sizing, and reports. Make use of and participate in development of company deliverable formats and design and production tools, including process simulation. Support the procurement of Life Sciences industry process systems and equipment. This support may include evaluation of vendor proposals, evaluation of vendor design and test plan submittals, monitoring of vendor progress and quality, and supervision and observation of acceptance testing. Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and members of IPS design teams. Develop proposals and presentations for prospective clients. Special projects as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements: Minimum of 15 years engineering experience and a minimum of 10 years in the design of advanced Life Sciences industry process systems. Experience in providing engineering consulting services to the Life Sciences industries. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. Knowledge of cGMP’s as they affect process system design and equipment specification. A demonstrated ability to solve problems, with limited direction, and manage time. Superior verbal and written communications skills; strong presentation skills.
