Job Summary: As a Summer Intern with the Hytrol Engineering Department you will experience opportunities to partner with members of our Engineering staff to support one of our specialized teams in Design, Controls, or Manufacturing. You will develop your engineering skills through job assignments, improve industry knowledge, and contribute to your personal brand, while supporting a variety of industries across the world. Summer Interns work approximately 40 hours each week at a $15.00 hourly rate. Housing may be provided for non-local interns. Design Engineering: A Design Engineer (DE) is responsible for successful mechanical designs that pertain to conveyor form and function. The DE receives a Factory Order (FO) that details the customer s requirements. The DE works within a lane that specializes in a specific family of conveyor models. The DE is expected to learn and attain technical mastery in each design aspect that pertains to the conveyor family. This will include distinct model lines and add-ons. The Design Engineer is an internal role and will primarily interface with other Design and Product Engineers. The Product Engineer acts as the DE s Team Leader and will assign, manage, and review work. The DE will also interface as needed with Order Processors to clarify design questions, along with the shop to support any design errors or reworks. Controls Engineering: A Controls Engineer (CE) develops and configures control packages using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and other devices for conveyors being sold. The CE will be responsible for designing electrical panels containing electrical hardware to support the control package and provide needed assistance to external contacts building the electrical panel. The Controls Engineer will work with the applications group and customers in understanding actual requirements in order to quote and supply controls packages to meet specific job requirements. Additionally, they will provide electrical and controls support for conveyor lab equipment being used for showings or testing. Industrial Engineering: An Industrial Engineer (IE) works closely with production departments to identify areas of improvement and develop processes to improve flow in manufacturing. Industrial Engineers communicate with the manufacturing management team to implement and complete cost saving projects. They monitor and report scrap activities and research equipment related to capital improvement. Required and Preferred Qualifications: Student in pursuit of a Technical or Bachelor s Degree in Engineering.
