Role: Plan, organize and help direct all aspects of nursing services in the clinic. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Paticipates in conseling and evaluation of staff. Assists in the training and development of nursing personnel. Ensures patient care needs are mt and resolves patient care crisis problems. Evaluates performance and recommends merit increases, promotions and disciplinary actions. Makes recommendations to Director of Nursing regarding staffing and hiring. Makes recommendations for changes and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Asists in the preparation of final submitted annual budget. Participates in direct communication with physicians with guidance from Director of Nursing. Acts in behalf of the Director of Nursing in her absence. Participates in leading staff meetings and in-service opportunities. Performance Measurements: 1. Assist in coordinating work schedule to provide department leadership coverage. 2. Assist in the selection and training of department personnel. 3. Ensure quality and professional patient care. 4. Evaluate performance, recommending merit increases, promotions and disciplinary actions with direction from Director of Nursing. 5. Assist in establishing department goals and objectives. 6. Assist in the development of the financial plan for the department. 7. Observe and enforce clinic guidelines and policies. Qualifications Knowledge and Skills: Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience. Education: Equivalent to a college degree. Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job. Other Skills: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting of patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours. Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
