Established in 1995 we provide quality, affordable homes to rent and buy across the South East of England. We are rooted in the local community and we offer a wide range of housing services and housing options, including affordable homes to rent, properties to buy under shared ownership; market rent properties, and specialist accommodation for older people and people who need care and support to live within the community. Housing Solutions is an ambitious organisation, we are working hard to maximise the number of new homes we build, refurbishing our existing estates and striving to innovate to achieve happy customers. The Role This is a key operational role for delivering financial inclusion strategies, leading on the organisation's Welfare Reform Strategy. You will be tasked with supporting residents through changes ensuring benefit entitlements are claimed to mitigate potential hardship and to maximise income for the organisation and to supervise the Welfare & Benefits Officers to do the same. You will facilitate the team in helping residents sustain tenancies by supporting the Income Manager and Income Officers to use early intervention strategies, when this is not possible you will be required to lead on complex cases and maintain strategic relationships with the Local Authority, DWP and other agencies You will be responsible for coordinating and implementing awareness campaigns regarding welfare reform. This includes the production of written information for publications, leaflets and web pages. The Person We are looking for someone who will thrive on our values of Ownership, Innovation, Teamwork and Inclusion and incorporate them in their working day. A previous Team Leader or Supervisor with experience with the welfare and benefits sector, who has a successful track record of driving individual and team targets. You will be operational as well as have some experience at managing officers. You will have outstanding knowledge of the benefits system and in particular how it applies to and affects people who live in social housing. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to adapt approaches and techniques dependent on audience, with a good understanding of the needs and issues of vulnerable/disadvantaged tenants at risk of financial exclusion. You may have worked for a social housing provider before, but this is not essential. You could come from a welfare and advice background in another sector but have a real passion for housing. Whatever your experience to date, you will definitely be good at reaching out to other organisations and stakeholders, building relationships and making those relationship work for your team and your customers.
