Furtwangen (Black Forest) University’s Faculty of Medical and Life Sciences is an international, top-ranked, growing faculty for undergraduate and graduate education and cutting-edge research. In the framework of project “micro-resonators for point-of-care diagnostics of pathogens” (InfectResonator) we are offering one part-time (19,75 hours) position as Academic Staff (m / f / d) Data Science With the starting date 1st of May 2020. The contract for the position is limited to a maximum of 18 months. The weekly working hours for a 50% position are 19,75 hours. Remuneration will be in accordance with German public sector pay scales and can, dependent on individual skills and assignment of tasks, be up to pay group 13 TV‑L. The position is located at our Villingen-Schwenningen campus. Your tasks will include: Planning of studies (design, sample size) Implementation of a database for “Whispering Gallery Mode” data Application of machine learning procedures to “Whispering Gallery Mode” data for identification of multidrug-resistant pathogens Project management, contribution to research and publications Supervision of bachelor and master students We are looking for: A completed university degree (master or „Diplom“) in statistics/mathematics or computer science or a related discipline with experience in applying statistical methods and especially machine learning procedures as well as programming experience in the statistical software R and/or Python. Solid knowledge of the English language is required. We also assume that a successful candidate will have an active interest in continued further qualification and life-long learning.
