Overview: NovAtel Inc., a part of Hexagon’s Autonomy and Positioning division, is looking for a tech-savvy and personable Applications Engineer to help us drive our business forward by supporting our wide and diverse customer base. In this exciting hands-on position, you will utilize your GNSS+INS expertise to ensure our customers’ success. Through the support of our Sales and Business Development teams, you will help to increase awareness of NovAtel’s revolutionary technologies by consulting on positioning solutions for many exciting applications. Applications Engineering provides support for various NovAtel products including both hardware and software. Support also entails field services to NovAtel’s worldwide customer base. The team collaborates closely with Customers, Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Engineering, and Marketing to help ensure the cohesive and comprehensive delivery of products and materials. Our customers rely on NovAtel’s industry leading precision GNSS and INS technology when building their own solutions. Working closely with internal engineering teams ensures escalated issues are resolved in a timely manner while continuing to be the customer liaison and maintaining the customer interface. This position will be based out of the Hexagon Calgary Campus office, which opened in September of 2018. The campus has an on site gym, underground parking, dedicated bike storage, and various social and athletic clubs. Responsibilities: As our Applications Engineer based in Calgary, AB you would be responsible for: Providing product and application support on NovAtel hardware, software, and related GNSS & INS topics to internal and external customers Providing customer training, demonstrations, technical assistance, and technical sales support Collaborating with other departments regarding technical matters Formulating and implementing procedures and plans for resolving problems Performing software testing, verification, bug reports, and field trial coordination Reviewing technical documentation materials and manuals Generating application notes for frequently asked questions and contributing to our internal and external knowledge base Qualifications: Must-Have: Geomatics, or Electrical Engineering degree or related degree with 2+ years of related industry experience Self-motivated team player with proven problem-solving skills Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to get on with others English fluency with excellent verbal and written skills Ability and willingness to travel, worldwide Key Success Factors: High attention to detail and highly organised Strong multitasker with keen ability to prioritize Outgoing and energetic with exceptional people skills Comfortable working individually but know when to ask for help Work well in a collaborative environment Nice-to-Have: Background experience in GNSS and INS systems installation and troubleshooting Experience in a customer facing role
