Our Crop Insurance Division provides the tools producers need in the form of specialized crop insurance coverages, which can insure their revenue stream even if elements outside control go awry. That means even in the face of a worst-case scenario producers will have the guaranteed income they need to keep their operation functioning properly. Our Lawrence, KS office is looking for a Crop Support Representative / Associate Underwriter. Responsibilities: Learns to administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules and insurance laws and regulations to review, underwrite and document new and renewal policy transactions, within authority. Participates in auditing and may enter policy information on an assigned product, territory and / or agency in accordance with template rules. May learn to review premium and loss data on an individual account, as part of renewal process or mid-term underwriting. May learn to review electronic insurance applications and / or other risk documentation. Learns to review basic underwriting requirements; refers applications or endorsements requests for further underwriting analysis when above authority limits. Assists in reviewing paperwork and / or applications for signatures, dates and other considerations to ensure that coverage may be issued. Learns to verify coverage limits, perform necessary calculations and complete other checks before processing policies. Learns to and assists in communicating rejection / denial of risk when deemed appropriate and when not handled by automated means. May learn to order, review and take appropriate action on required reports, endorsement requests, service requests and general correspondence. Learns to analyze individual risk pricing for new business submissions and renewals against template expectations, and assists making appropriate changes, within authority. Learns to monitor entry / processing to ensure data integrity and to avoid potential systemic issues. Learns to communicate with agents, brokers and customers to obtain information needed to underwrite risks, respond to questions and address issues. Participates in other departmental processes / projects, such as changes / enhancements to forms and screens, user acceptance testing for systems and policies, and reviewing impact to current policies / practices. May provide guidance and assistance to agents. May participate in developing training curriculum and / or training agents and staff. Successfully completes all coursework / education as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: 0 to 2 years of related experience; insurance experience preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
