Summary: In this role, the Senior Staff Accountant (SSA) is responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in a variety of accounting-related company tasks while following GAAP standards. The SSA is responsible for various reconciliations, assisting in maintaining the general ledger, preparing payroll taxes, multi-state sales tax reports, and month-end close. Accuracy and efficiency are key to all functions of this position. Scheduled hours are generally from Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm. Responsibilities: Analyze financial information and options by developing and updating spreadsheet reports; verifying information Maintain financial records and files; reconcile accrual and vendor accounts including but not limited to bank accounts, credit cards, payroll, and inter-company transactions Prepare general ledger and job cost entries for month-end closing and prepare month-end reconciliations for selected general ledger accounts Ensure proper and timely recording of financial transactions for multiple entities utilizing Sage 300 (Timberline) & QuickBooks Prepare financial statements including work-in-progress schedule for management review, and other management reports Assist in month-end closing and reconciliation of financial statement accounts Involvement with accounting operational functions such as A/R, A/P, and General Accounting Review A/P invoices for appropriate sales tax treatment and further processing Review posted A/P invoices in accounting system for accuracy Assist in the improvement of accounting and internal control systems Maintain documentation and procedures in accordance with company policies Prepare payroll taxes at the federal and multi-state level Prepare multi-state sales tax reports Record cash receipts from customer payments Manage fixed asset and depreciation schedules for multiple entities Provide management with accurate and timely information vital to the decision-making process Prepare benefit invoices for payment by coding them to the correct accounts and ensuring employee terminations and new hires are reflected in the monthly invoices Reconcile all benefit account Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required including special projects/assignments as directed by management Requirements: Experience using Sage 300 (Timberline) – strongly preferred Experience using QuickBooks – strongly preferred Must be able to work overtime in order to meet deadlines Must have a 4-year degree in accounting, business, or any related field + a minimum of 2 years of accounting related experience – OR – 6 years of related experience Knowledge of GAAP / Construction Accounting Maintain confidentiality of financial records Must be able to pass a pre-employment background, drug screen, and E-Verify Gibson & Associates, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer Job Type: Full-time Salary: $70,000.00 to $90,000.00 /year Experience: Job Costing: 3 years (Preferred) Multi-State Sales Tax: 2 years (Preferred) Journal Entries: 3 years (Preferred) Account Reconciliations: 3 years (Preferred) Construction Accounting: 3 years (Preferred) Sage 300: 2 years (Preferred) QuickBooks: 2 years (Preferred) Multi-State Payroll Tax: 2 years (Preferred) Education: Bachelor's (Preferred) Work authorization: United States (Required) Work Location: One location Benefits: Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Retirement plan Paid time off Schedule: Monday to Friday Benefit Conditions: Waiting period may apply
