Position Summary The Director of Entertainment, is responsible for the design, implementation and daily operations of the entertainment department as well as ensuring that all entertainment facilitations function and comply with all standards, policies and procedures required to maintain the most engaging Guest Experience. Responsibilities Hire, train and supervise a manager and assistant manager to oversee 4D and Entertainment departments and staff. Create and maintain entertainment facilitations throughout the Aquarium. Cast and direct rehearsals for all entertainment facilitations. Establish a good working environment for staff by providing appropriate training and professional development, regular rehearsal opportunities, encouraging consensus building, empowering staff at all levels to participate in decision making and helping to define a path for advancement. Evaluate the performance and professional development of the staff throughout the year. Establish long term goals and objectives for the department and regularly evaluate the department’s success in relation to those goals, as well as the value of the goals themselves. Communicate vision of entertainment facilitations to designers, staff and leadership team. Develop innovative ways to involve the guests directly in the entertainment process. Work with the Guest Experience Vice President to establish long term strategic goals and to implement policies and procedures for the Entertainment department. Ensure facilitations open on schedule and within budget. Develop partnerships and collaborations with other artistic organizations which are mutually beneficial and which raise the quality of our entertainment experience for the guests and professional experience for the staff. Perform other duties as workload necessitates. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent theater experience preferred. Previous 10 years of Theatre Experience encompassing extensive Directing, Writing and Acting required. Previous 5 years of customer service experience in a fast paced, high volume setting including training and performance evaluations required. Effective problem analysis and resolution skills. Superior verbal and written communication skills essential. Ability to be flexible and shift priorities to meet departmental requirements. Ability to organize, manage time and set priorities while meeting deadlines. Ability to research and analyze various types of data. Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel. PowerPoint).
