Position: Junior Accountant (Maternity Leave) Location: Burnaby, BC, Canada General Fusion is transforming how the world is energized by developing the first commercially-viable fusion power plant. Fusion will deliver clean, safe and on-demand power at industrial scale, providing a powerful complement to renewables and a pathway to a zero-emission grid. Combining new technologies, proven industrial processes, and advances in fundamental fusion science, General Fusion aims to be the first in the world to develop commercial fusion power. Key performance requirements have been demonstrated at the system level, setting the stage for building a pre-commercial fusion power prototype. Position Overview: The Junior Accountant is responsible for handling day-to-day accounting transactions, payroll and working with the Senior Accountant and Controller to ensure timely and accurate reporting. This is a temporary full-time position for one-year with the potential to move into a permanent role. Key Responsibilities: · Accounts payable processing · Maintaining vendor files · Assisting in managing general ledger and accounting system · Processing semi-monthly payroll · Assisting in month-end close · Reconciling bank and credit card accounts monthly · Creating and filing quarterly reports for GST, PST, WCB and Employer Health Tax (EHT) · Assisting with year-end audit Qualifications: · 1-2 years’ experience in accounts payable, payroll and full-cycle accounting. · Proficient in Excel and Word · Working knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software · Good communication skills. · Working experience in a technology environment is preferred.
