Position: We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to add to our core team. This is a full-time position in our Middlesex, NJ location, reporting directly to the company President. The Director of Engineering leads the entire engineering department, that is, the frontend development and backend development teams. The Director Engineering is responsible for all equipment and facilities at the business’s site. He leads and manages key activities in manufacturing, engineering, and process automation in support of t projects and provide a vital and technical link between the design function of manufacturing and an engineering insight into manufacturing process. The Director of Engineering adeptly handles schedules with a deadline orientated work ethic and high energy. The Director of Engineering oversees all activities of the staff, builds reliability-engineering capabilities, manages the departmental operating budget, and technically supports all projects. The Director Engineering creates and maintains positive relationships with the internal and external stakeholders of the business in order to establish a consumer-focused culture. This position fulfills needs in the field when necessary. Primary Job Responsibilities: · Reviews product designs, drawings, specification, bills-of-materials, and other such documents created by the design department to insure producibility, cost quality and scheduling optimization, completeness and overall acceptability for manufacture. · Provides feedback regarding problems encountered during manufacture with an emphasis on prevention in the future. · Meets with vendors and customers to solve manufacturing problems through innovation and problem solving and provides potential manufacturing engineering insights into theoretical design concepts, calculations and determinations. · Primary responsibility is to prepare project proposals for customers seeking to purchase company equipment and ensure financial integrity of selling transactions is intact. · Proposals that are created may range from spare parts quotes through complete turnkey projects. · Must utilize provided margin guidelines, maintain a log of quotations, possibly prepare conceptual CAD drawings of the equipment being proposed and analyze customer expectations to determine what designs can be produced by the company using their standard components and methods · Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide sales support · Plan and modify products to meet customer needs. · Ensures limits of authority are followed throughout the fulfillment process. Serves as the liaison between the customer, sales team and production. · Responsible for process of job costing to invoicing. · Assist the sales team with technical expertise in the selection/application of standard or modified products and provide technical solutions. · Provide prompt, accurate responses to sales inquiries regarding special applications, systems or pricing. · Partner with sales leader to measure, analyze and update progress on department financial goals and recommend improvements. · Process and execute orders for standard products and/or products requiring modifications not covered by published pricing. · Help clients solve problems with installed equipment · Recommend improved materials or machinery to customers, showing how changes will lower costs or increase production. · Help in researching and developing new products. · Oversees field service technicians as a technical liason to answer questions. Travels in the field to ensure that installations and start ups go smoothly. · Knowledge and understanding of industrial controls and electrical circuits to trouble shoot and help maintenance for our clients. · Builds the engineering team and expands the department through personel and processes. · Project manages and meets deadlines and expectations of all stakeholders. · QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS REQUIRED: · Educational Experience: o Mechanical and Electrical Engineer · Experience: o 10+ years experience in any one of the following positions: Engineer in a manufacturing environment, mechanical engineer or related area. PLC knowledge a must. o Technical sales experience a plus · Specific skills: o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Outlook) o Ability to read technical drawings and blue prints; experience with AUTO CAD and SolidWorks a must. o Experience with ERP systems o Design R&D, product development, and customer interface. o PLC AB/Science VFDs Encoders o Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills o Exceptional organization and time management skills o Must have to support multiple efforts and track progress against timelines o Attention to detail o Able to analyze customer requirements and assess completeness of information; able to formulate and ask questions to follow-up to gather all missing information. o Demonstrated ability to make logical decisions o Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. · Personal characteristics: o Sense of urgency and ability to withstand demanding work flow. o Patient with solid work ethic; able to deal with routine and repetitive tasks. o Hands-on, results oriented attitude o Outgoing, customer service personality o Capacity to handle fast paced and changing environments o Able to remain flexible and adaptable to change Job Type: Full-time Experience: Engineering: 10 years (Required) Work Location: One location Benefits: Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Retirement plan Paid time off Schedule: Monday to Friday
