POSITION SUMMARY: Gates has an immediate opening for a VP of Global Logistics, who will oversee Gates' physical distribution network and support inbound/outbound transportation activities. This highly visibile position will be based at our global headquarters in beautiful Denver, Colorado and includes leadership responsibility for DC Operations, International and Domestic Transportation Management and Trade Compliance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: DC Operations: -Partner with commercial and operational functions to define business requirements and supporting distribution strategy. -Manage distribution network budget. Develop and implement strategies/metrics to maximize Service Level at the lowest possible costs. Includes footprint, equipment, technology, headcount and overall management process. -Functional lead in any global Distribution ERP change. Develop functional requirements, confirm supporting tools/processes. -Champion HSE focus and supporting initiatives. -Drive continuous improvement (process, technology) within DC operations. -Maintain and publish key performance indicators within DC operations- quality, productivity, inventory accuracy, put-away/pick/pack lead times, etc… Drive accountability within team through the use of these metrics. Transportation: -Oversee all global inbound and outbound product movement, ensuring materials transported safely, cost-effectively and on-time. Includes both intercompany and third party shipments. -Manage freight budget. Lead contract management- evaluate external options, select and manage partner relationships. -Collaborate with customers, suppliers and logistics partners in optimizing transportation strategy in support of business requirements. -Maintain and publish key performance indicators within Transportation- revenue and spend by mode, on-time delivery, quality, etc… Drive accountability within internal and external teams through the use of these metrics. -Ensure compliance understood and maintained in all product movements. Network Optimization: -Evaluate total supply chain network- suppliers, manufacturing facilities, customer locations. Ensure physical network, stocking policy and supporting transportation strategy optimized to deliver required service at lowest cost. TRAVEL: In order to provide the appropriate support there will be 15-40% travel, including international locations. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role is responsible for the leadership of Global Logistics functions, with 5 direct reports. *LI-GM1 EXPERIENCE: Requires at least ten years of specific managerial experience. Must have extensive distribution experience, including company owned and operated DC's (vs. 3PL), most of which was acquired in a senior managerial capacity and ideally within a lean manufacturing environment. REQUIRED SKILLS: Must be an excellent proven leader, able to motivate a large diverse group of people and build a team that functions and excels together. Has a proven track record and demonstrated ability to think strategically then translate strategic vision into tactical action plans that result in delivered business results. Demonstrated experience with Distribution operations management and implementing distribution network strategies Experience with Kitting and Postponement finishing activities/techniques and associated interfaces to ERP planning tools in a global, multi-cultural setting Experience working in an SAP ERP/eWM/TM or Oracle ERP environment Is globally adaptable to allow for quickly changing business needs in a global environment. Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity effectively. Must be analytical and a good problem solver under high pressure situations. Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Possesses a leadership maturity that sets the expectation of communicating in a clear, concise, open and transparent manner inside and outside the facility. Manages conflict in a timely and effective manner, while insuring professionalism at all times. Demonstrated ability to drive performance accountability within all levels of the division and site, while ensuring effective feedback is provided to employees to drive professional growth. Has a demonstrated passion for work place safety and is capable of setting and managing safety expectations and standards. Strong financial discipline, business acumen and organizational abilities.
