Engineering Technician Job Description JOB SUMMARY: This is a technical role with administrative duties. The Engineering Technician is responsible for the management of the Calibration System including performing some in-house calibrations. This employee performs hypothesis testing, data analysis, and equipment trials to support process improvement initiatives. Additional duties include support of the cycle count process, new equipment documentation and qualification and administrative tasks to support the Engineering team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the Calibration Program Assigns Object ID numbers to new instruments/gauges. Enters and edits Calibration instructions in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Coordinates calibration service with service companies and in-house stakeholders. Performs calibration of test instruments. Manages the spare calibration device inventory. Performs trending analysis of calibration results to detect life cycle failure. Manages completion of calibration documentation prior to submittal to Quality Assurance. Provides backup for Inventory Performs inventory transactions accurately. Manages cycle counts and reviews/corrects results. Loads new items to ERP system after authorization. Manages Data Integrity of CMMS Assigns Object ID numbers to new equipment. Updates CMMS with new equipment information. Enters and edits Preventive Maintenance instructions in CMMS. Verifies the integrity of the data after system upgrades. Manages closing of PM documentation and transfers to Quality Assurance. Equipment Qualifications Executes approved qualification procedures. Completes all tasks on qualification checklists. Summarizes qualification data. Performs support tasks for the Engineering Team Creates Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in company format. Prepares change documentation for SOP’s, calibration, preventive maintenance and forms. Performs data mining from information systems and generate reports. Performs information research. Creates Purchase Order Requisitions. Assists with Process Improvement Projects. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or Experience: Associates Degree preferred in Engineering, Applied Science or other Science related are highly desirable. Minimum 2 (two) years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills. Working knowledge of basic measuring instruments. Strong computer skills with the ability to learn and use various software applications. Demonstrated ability to perform research for equipment and processes. Demonstrated ability to conduct data mining from information systems. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to describe process steps in writing. Ability to work independently and as a member of cross-functional teams. Acute attention to detail and high professional standards. Versatility, flexibility and a willingness to tackle changing priorities and multiple deadlines with enthusiasm and skill. Adept at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office.
