Job Description – Engineer 4 1 Job Title Senior Geotechnical Engineer 2 Job Summary Based in our office in Doha, Qatar as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience you will be involved in a wide range of geotechnical engineering projects. Your duties will include both office and field work. You should have the willingness and flexibility to undertake occasional regional travel and assignments when required. Responsibilities (commensurate with experience) Plan, execute, and supervise field programs for feasibility studies, advanced geotechnical assessments and technical recommendation and design reporting Geotechnical field work: Perform geological and geotechnical assessments for earthworks, foundation formation levels, excavation face, including supervision of data collection, interpretation and on-site quality assurance activities Supervision of geotechnical activities, where required Carry out walkover surveys for forensic ground engineering investigation into problems such as excessive settlement, slope instability, etc. Review, analysis, and interpretation of geotechnical data: Data management including quality control procedure implementation Analytical / numerical modelling and model development Perform desk studies, prepare technical reports and interpretative/design reports, contribute to the preparation of scope & proposals, and prepare/perform presentations as necessary Provide coaching and mentoring to junior level staff and field teams Perform Geoconsultancy project management duties including, developing and tracking budgets, determining project scope, and establishing schedules, and other duties required to ensure quality and profitability 3 Requirements 3.1 Education Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor or higher university / college degree in engineering geology or geotechnical engineering; Master of Science degree in engineering geology or geotechnical engineering preferred 10 years of relevant experience in designing and implementing geotechnical investigations, site characterization, and development of conceptual models for providing adequate geotechnical solutions Demonstrative experience and knowledge in geotechnical engineering, including laboratory and field tests and geophysical & groundwater investigations Experience in numerical modelling With valid Qatar driving license MME (Qatar) license is an advantage Engineering chartership is an advantage Knowledge of Qatar geology is an advantage Fluency in spoken and written English 3.2 Soft-Skills Ability to make decisions, to take initiative and to work in a team, self-confidence Quality awareness, commitment, reliability and trustworthiness Willingness and ability for continuous and comprehensive training and personal development 4 Objectives This position serves high-level and timely execution of projects and supports the service line manager and company’s management The job holder shall: Work in accordance with state-of-the-art technologies and science and comply with the relevant standards and the company’s health and safety rules and regulations Work in his/her field of responsibility in an efficient and profitable manner Act with a high degree of willingness to cooperate and integrate with/in the team and with linked business units 5 Responsibilities and Duties Timely execution of projects in accordance with quality, cost and safety standards, in close consultation with the service line manager and associated project managers Technical lead in Geoconsultancy projects Cooperation with other service lines and project-related subcontractors or project partners Technical field and office work, compiling of project documentations and further task-specific documents Further training, obligation to provide control and information on projects and procedures towards the superior Compliance with health and safety requirements, presentation of suggestions for improvement, assurance of quality and environmental standards according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 We offer: As the world’s largest integrator of geotechnical, survey, subsea and geosciences services, we offer talented individuals almost unlimited growth potential.
