Position Summary: VL50 is seeking a Senior/Research Associate with expertise in nucleic acid biology to join our expanding team as a part of our development group. The successful candidate will support multidisciplinary project teams focused on the engineering and development of new therapeutic modalities, including nucleic acids, peptides, proteins, cells and various conjugate molecules. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in molecular biology. The Research Associate should be capable and excited to work across scientific disciplines of genetics, and molecular biology. The Candidate has experience in molecular, genomic, and biochemical techniques including - DNA/RNA synthesis and purification, PCR/qPCR, transfection, protein expression assays, and mammalian cell culture. The Research Associate should be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced entrepreneurial setting and should possess strong organizational and record-keeping skills. Key Responsibilities: Design, synthesize, and characterize novel genetic and biological constructs, sensors, circuits, and proteins for therapeutic applications Create experimental workflows and collect quantitative measurements of novel effector molecules for specific therapeutic applications Report experimental plans and results to scientific team and executive management Proactive literature review to contribute to new ideas, methods/technologies for delivery strategies and therapeutic opportunities Preferred Qualifications: Candidates of various experience levels will be considered. Position to be determined commensurate with experience. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Hands on experience with optimization of DNA, RNA and/or modified nucleic acid production, purification and biophysical characterization e.g. experience running and optimizing enzymatic reactions; optimizing chemical reactions and bioconjugation methods; familiarity with liquid chromatography theory and methods Hands on experience with running or developing assays for detecting nucleic acids e.g. gel methods (Urea PAGE, agarose, capillary gel electrophoresis etc.), analytical HPLC, LC-MS, sequencing Experience with the following techniques is preferred: RT-qPCR, RNA-seq, cloning, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, ChIP, EMSA, FISH, Northern and Western blotting Recruitment & Staffing Agencies: Flagship Pioneering and its affiliated Flagship Lab companies (collectively, "FSP") do not accept unsolicited resumes from any source other than candidates.
