RESPONSIBILITIES: Consults with the General Counsel, other Real Estate Counsel (2) and Real Estate Paralegals (2) regarding all real estate and other legal matters and recommends appropriate legal actions. Prepares agreements involving landowners, lot developers and purchasers. Has knowledge of or is eager to learn about alternate forms of financing in deal structures, the use of partnerships, joint ventures, non-recourse notes, rolling options and creative lot deposits to achieve the optimal structures for The Fischer Group projects. Participates in the management of tracking systems to benchmark dates and closing deadlines for current agreements. Consults with internal resources regarding governmental approvals, including planning and zoning staff, planning boards, political officials, and neighborhood groups. Involved with selecting and managing outside counsel where necessary. Assists with raw land acquisition, land development and lot purchases from both internal land development team and external developers. This includes legal due diligence, condominium and HOA document preparation, real estate document recording, and transfers of land between ownership entities. REQUIREMENTS: Must be a strong self-starter with a high level of drive and functioning best with a broadly defined position and goals. Must have strong analytical ability. Must have strong organizational skills, be detailed oriented and manage many tasks at once. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have thorough understanding of risk avoidance strategy and the ability to ensure that compliance is maintained. Must be admitted to a state bar – Ohio and/or Kentucky preferred. Some experience in practice, particularly real estate, homebuilding, or land development, preferred. Willingness to learn, grow and be part of a key new department within a growth-oriented and dynamic company required.
