Job purpose The Transportation Driver transports passengers in agency vans/vehicles over specified routes to local and/or distant points according to time schedule in a safe and professional manner. Drivers will be responsible for keeping the vehicles and the equipment maintained, ensuring that the vehicle has all the necessary supplies, completion of shift forms and maintaining FCC Behavioral Health's professional code of ethics. Qualifications Must possess or capable of obtaining a valid Class "E" Chauffeurs License; Minimum one (1) month related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience; Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds. Must be able to work flexible hours, as needed. Core Job Duties Conducts Monthly Vehicle Inspections for assigned agency vans/vehicles. Completion of daily walkaround to include checking of gas, oil and water prior to departure to ensure passenger comfort and safety. Ensures that assigned vehicles are exceptionally clean, inside and out, at all times. Makes basic maintenance repairs and tire changes as needed and when possible. "Maintains awareness of maintenance schedule for assigned vehicle. Always meets schedule. Works with garage to maintain efficiency in scheduling. " Reports all preventable/unpreventable accidents and incidents in a timely and appropriate manner. Always utilizes defensive driving techniques. Multiple observations practicing safe and defensive driving procedures. Transports passengers in a safe and professional manner at all times. Assists passengers with walkers/wheelchairs as well as entering and exiting the vehicle safely. Regulates heating and ventilating systems for passenger comfort. Complies with local and state traffic regulations. Reports delays and accidents to supervisor in a timely manner. Effectively communicates with supervisor in order to receive data and instructions. Capable of understanding directions and the ability to read and use maps accurately. Always utilizes proper FCC standards and procedures. Encourages others to follow proper protocols. Maintains a current and valid Class "E" Chauffeur's License. Accepts changes in a willing and positive manner. Maintain/improve professional competencies through training activities and/or other educational means. Maintain awareness regarding the agency vision and assist staff in continuing motivation and empowerment. Participates in clinical staffing of person(s)-served to include attendance of meetings and/or written notes regarding person(s)-served cooperation and participation with program expectations. Consistently complies with supervisory directives as it applies to enforcement of facility policies and procedures with person(s)-served. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization. Orally communicate information effectively and accurately. Maintain confidentiality, at all times, within the legal framework. Will adhere to established guidelines regarding confidentiality as well as the agency's adopted code of ethics. Maintain acceptable attendance record, respect break periods and work with supervisor to ensure coverage during any absence. Exhibit a professional appearance, attitude and demeanor that reflects confidence, positive self-esteem and overall professionalism when working with person(s)-served, co-workers, families and referral sources. Demonstrate initiative and a "can do" attitude. Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
