Job Description The Role To provide forensic examination and data acquisition of digital telecoms and computer based electronic storage devices to as prescribed in the Investigator’s case strategy, and to recognised national standards in accordance with ACPO guidelines. Equipment includes but not limited to, mobile telephones, computers, and components i.e. SIM cards and memory cards. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities To undertake computer and / or mobile phone examinations by the recovery and retrieval of extant, deleted and encrypted data as per Investigator instructions. Delivery of work on time and according to Investigator instructions. Follow digital strategies and carry out first stage analysis on behalf of Senior Investigators. General maintenance of equipment used. Required to test and validate tools used during acquisition process. To produce accurate intelligence/findings reports. Adhere to all quality systems appropriate to the Digital Investigation Unit Qualifications Required Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills Educated to degree level or equivalent with recognised qualifications in computer science or computer forensic investigation. Proven track record in forensic computer investigation. Demonstrating competence and expertise from initial imaging, analysis and / or mobile phone extraction. Good working knowledge of a wide range of operating systems including Microsoft, Mac, Linux, experience of working with networks and also the various forensic software tools available Experience of working in a forensic environment to the highest ethical standards Good understanding of the UK legislation Excellent report writing skills Excellent knowledge of court procedure and etiquette of an expert witness, disclosure and continuity Behaviours Customer focus Able to Communicate effectively with the team and other stakeholders Proven ability of delivering results Takes accountability for actions Excellent organisational skills Ability to manage and prioritise a challenging workload Excellent attention to detail High level of commercial awareness A degree of flexibility Additional Information Due to the highly sensitive nature of the work, applicants should note that security clearance is required for this role. To gain security clearance you must have three years continuous residency in the UK. Criminal convictions may prevent you from gaining security clearance.
