Insurance Verification Specialist The Insurance Verification Specialist I is responsible for performing insurance insurance verification for patients receiving services at Mercy Health. They are responsible for performing these functions while meeting the mission and goals of Mercy Health ministry and all regulatory compliance requirements. The Insurance Verification Specialist I will work within the policies and processes as they are being performed across the entire organization. Due to the nature of this role, associates are held responsible to complete the required workload for the day prior to the end of shift. This may require additional hours to the regular shift to make sure both patient care as well as Mercy Health revenue are protected. Insurance Verification Specialist Responsibilities Insurance Verification Specialist I is responsible for validating active/eligible insurance coverage, documenting plan benefits including deductibles, copay's, and coinsurance, and validating plan pre-certification requirements. The role will also ensure medical necessity is met for scheduled procedures, notice of admission is submitted for inpatient admissions, and patient balance estimates are created. Among the expectations of this role the Insurance Verification Specialist I: >95% accuracy/quality while handling accounts, as determined by account audits and 95% quality of expected customer service etiquette, as determined via phone call audits. Meet or exceed Lower controls of average productivity among the team productivity standards Insurance Verification Specialist Qualifications Prefer 1 year experience in a healthcare related role. Willing to train those without experience if they present significant potential. Experience with multiple computer systems and use of dual screens. Able to multitask and work individually while applying critical thinking skills. Customer Service experience highly preferred. Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance.
