Energy Aspects currently has an opportunity available for a Senior Oil Products Analyst to join our growing Singapore team, as our Head of East of Suez Products. This is a fantastic career opportunity for an experienced Senior Oil Products Analyst who is looking to continue growing their own career, whilst making an invaluable contribution to a well-respected, established but rapidly growing Energy Research Consultancy. Reporting into the Head of Oil Products, you will be the lead analyst in Asia for oil products research, with responsibility for leading on regional oil products coverage, including managing and developing a small team of analysts, improving existing processes and models, and interacting with EA clients and prospects. You will play a central role in our oil products service and assist in our broader oil market analysis. Well-connected and versed in oil products markets (one or more of: LPG, naphtha, gasoline, jet, diesel, fuel oil) and the market impact of refinery operations, you will be able to rapidly take on a range of responsibilities. These responsibilities will span the full cycle of our work, from building and maintaining data models and monitoring market developments (e.g. refinery capacity additions and maintenance activity), through to writing concise analysis and responding to client requests. You will work closely with market experts and several senior analysts, collaborating closely to decipher different aspects of the global market. Our clients value our views and insights, so you will be helping to shape forward-looking views and not just historical analysis. Ideally, you will already have experience of building and maintaining balances for individual oil products. You will closely track one or more geographic regions, so existing knowledge of regional markets will be an advantage. You will be expected to consistently produce work at a high enough standard to send out to our demanding client base. Duties: Managing a small team of analysts and collaborating with the wider global team to ensure that EA reports meet our standards for quality, accuracy and depth of insight. Establishing a comprehensive network of relevant market experts and leverage their knowledge to build a deeper understanding of the East of Suez markets. Taking overall responsibility for improving and running the oil products balances for East of Suez. Improving existing models in coordination with our global team, both through hands-on work as well as delegating tasks appropriately to junior staff. Supervising the Singapore oil products team’s day-to-day interaction with clients and market sources across all oil products markets (LPG/Naphtha down to Fuel Oil). Assisting in the formulation of the EA view of the market on crude oil and oil products on a global basis. Presenting EA’s views on global crude oil and refined products markets to clients and prospects as well as take over responsibility for writing monthly reports and in-depth quarterly publications. It is expected that the incumbent will enable the broader team to undertake more bespoke research for clients when required. Requirements: The right candidate will have: Solid demonstrable analytical experience working with refined products at a consultancy or a trading house Fundamental modelling experience (build and maintain complex refining models, work with statistical tools, regression modelling) Knowledge of global oil products markets and refining processes, particularly East of Suez Experience managing or mentoring a high performing team A comprehensive network of relevant market experts Proficiency with MS Applications (Word, Power Point), Excel (pivot tables and macros) Experience in writing reports and conducting presentations Experience in analysing what the future of energy supply and demand will look like An exceptional candidate will be: An advocate for the use of Python or other coding languages, to automate and improve workflows and balances A team player who seeks to reduce complexity and strives to standardise practices across the business Culture and Benefits: At Energy Aspects you could be part of an active, social and friendly team.
