Commodity Manager Requisition ID: (20001290) Primary Location: India-Tamil Nadu-Chennai Job Function: Supply Chain & Logistics Job Posting Date: Feb 6, 2020, 12:22:34 PM Manage the overall development of key supply chain short- and long-term sourcing strategies, contracts and relationships for the assigned commodity in India, with alignment to global commodity objectives, to gain the optimum result for the Organization. Coordinate deployment of actions in support of the strategic initiatives working closely with the Manufacturing Engineering and Supplier Quality Engineering resources. Optimize supply chain effectiveness through continuous improvement of supplier performance. Responsibilities include improving supplier delivery, quality, lead-time, payment terms and reducing inventory in order to improve customer service and total cost of ownership 1. Develop and implement supply chain strategies to meet manufacturing needs and business objectives. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of global industry activity through close working relationships with suppliers, trade organizations, and market trends. Participate with other WA Commodity Team in developing a comprehensive commodity strategy for review and approval with Senior Management. This review will include: o Understanding the needs and objectives of the sites/Business Unit. o Establishing commodity strategies to manage growth and risk within the supply chain. o Evaluating and selecting preferred sources. o Identify, coordinate, and track implementation of e-sourcing events. o Completing contract negotiations and quantifying benefits. Negotiate and implement strategic initiatives for material sourcing and pricing strategies. Manage projects through completion by coordinating technical and commercial reviews with suppliers, Quality Assurance, Engineering and Procurement associates as needed across the businesso Identify, evaluate, select, and qualify new suppliers o Perform cost benefit analysis, issue resolution, risk mitigation and contingency planning o Approve first article evaluation Manage projects through completion by coordinating technical and commercial reviews with suppliers, Quality Assurance, Engineering and Procurement associates as needed across the business 2. Identify and implement cost containment/reduction opportunities. Alternate sourcing, design improvements, part standardization, supplier consolidation, Lead Time Agreement, etc., Perform value analysis on total logistic cost and improve on it 3. Manage supplier performance: Track and monitor supplier performance metrics of On Time Delivery, analyze and derive action plans for eliminating the root causes of any delays, which affects the delivery performance, process improvements to reduce lead time etc., Develop structured process with supplier to set and monitor KPI Develop supplier plans/goals that drive continuous improvement in manufacturing process, inventory and capacity planning Technology development 4. Develop and benchmark best practices among suppliers 5. Maintain supplier tool / pattern database. Maintain existing databases to ensure data integrity Must possess project management and supplier auditing skills. Able to read engineering drawings, understand Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), quality systems requirements and customer specifications Carry out duties with minimum supervision. Ability to evaluate quotes / pricing. Strong Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint Strong presentation skills and better understanding of the process and able to offer solutions. Travel – 25% International sourcing experience preferred.
