EFI seeks a Global Vice President of Manufacturing Operations to join our company. The VP of Manufacturing Operations will lead the global manufacturing operations to deliver sound operating results by planning, implementing and directing all manufacturing activities by ensuring continuous production of products are consistent with established standards, quality and customer schedules. The location of this role could be either in Spain, Valencia area or in Italy, Bergamo area for Europe, or Londonderry NH for US.. Job/Position Summary Lead, direct and manage the worldwide manufacturing operations to attain c orporate, business unit, product family, plant and operations goals and targets, including growth, profitability, ROI, and total customer satisfaction. Responsible for the safe production of products that meet the customer’s requirements for quality and quantity. Scope of responsibility includes US and European facilities as well as contract manufacturing operations, warehouse operations and manufacturing engineering. Responsible for global strategies related to manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, materials, production tooling, and warehouse logistics. Ensure all manufacturing locations are in alignment with strategic business plans. Maximize the utilization of business unit assets. Monitor and review business unit performance in manufacturing, including Cost of Quality, productivity, inventory and inventory turns, cost/expense control, and profitability. Major Areas of Responsibility Manage the operations management team and provide indirect oversight of allmanufacturing operations at all global manufacturing locations. Align manufacturing operations with sales objectives and rigorously improve processes in supporting group growth goals. Improve operating margins by establishing, measuring, and meeting goals related, but not limited to on time delivery, cycle time reduction, yield improvement, internal rework and improved throughput. Develop and lead a continuous improvement culture focused on activities to include safety, cost/efficiency, and employee engagement. Responsible for conforming with the company’s quality management system requirements, as well as contributing to its overall effectiveness, and the ultimate goals of customer satisfaction, product compliance and ethical practices/behavior. Participate in business planning process, develop and communicate the manufacturing strategy, provide input from a manufacturing viewpoint into product design, standardization, manufacturability and required technologies. Develop business models for all manufacturing locations that support current and future business strategies. Conducts site reviews, participates in status updates, discusses and reviews the planning at the manufacturing locations, prepares status updates for corporate review. Implement Lean Manufacturing throughout organization. Act as the representative in residence to represent the remote manufacturing locations in business policy development. Remove barriers between the remote locations and aids in developing effective communications. Develop a process to identify “best practices” throughout the SBU as it applies to manufacturing. Look for opportunities to standardize processes, policies, organization structure within all manufacturing locations. Review project selection and progress, provide direction on types of projects, collect and communicate the results, prepare updates for corporate review, work with finance to insure the savings are genuine, and to incorporate the information into business plans. Engage in training, coaching, selection and development of effective leaders and teams in manufacturing, materials, quality, and manufacturing engineering. Perform organization assessments and conduct performance reviews with developmental plans. Insure that developmental/ training programs are in place. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Manufacturing engineering, operations, lean methodologies, continuous improvement (quality), financial understanding and a reasonable level of technical product knowledge are required. Experience in a tier one or two automotive supplier desirable. Ensure long-term capacity plan is robust and sustained to meet/exceed customer requirements while working in lockstep with the planning department to ensure a success as a team. Provide necessary planning, organization, direction and control to meet the overall operational goals for the division/corporation while assuming the overall responsibility for production. Manage the production facilities to meet target man-hours, costs and quality requirements. Ensure the safe operation of equipment, facilities and personnel. Continually improve operations through organization, evaluation, monitoring and training of staff. Control and delegate appropriate work for the department managers and act as a liaison between departments (i.e.- Planning, Programs, Engineering, etc). Identify problem areas and concerns with the ability to develop appropriate strategies to address each. Monitor key measurements and develop improvement programs. Facilitate Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 6S and other manufacturing strategies and principles to the shop floor. This is a highly visible position, must be able to coach and mentor others. Self-awareness is important along with understanding the impact of behavior on others. Must be able to travel internationally, 50%- 60% estimated travel. Education and Experience B.S. degree in engineering or business management. M.S. in engineering or other technical discipline or MBA desirable. Minimum of 4 years of manufacturing experience at the executive level and a minimum 8 years experience with production and materials management. Prior experience with site profit and loss management. Minimum 5 year proven shop floor operations leadership / supervisory experience in a multi-functional manufacturing environment, 8-10 years preferred Multi-site operational management. Working knowledge and advanced training in Lean manufacturing concepts and techniques with significant exposure to Visual Management. Availability to travel domestic and internationally.
