We are seeking a full-time Security Guard for our Fort Garry Place complex to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings and nights. This position will appeal to those who are physically fit and appreciate extensive walking as the complex is large with multiple stairs required to be patrolled on a regular basis. As a member of the Edison team, your primary purpose is to ensure the safety and security of our tenants and visitors in a professional and courteous manner. Responsibilities include: Patrol of the Fort Complex (3 buildings including parking lot) ensuring that all required areas are locked and re-opened as scheduled Removal of individuals found loitering in buildings Assistance of tenants who have lost their keys or access card or to customers with respect to Parkade issues (i.e. lost ticket, direct to pay station) First response to incidents such as fire alarms, noise and nuisance complaints (with assistance from building manager/caretaker as requested) and other emergencies as they arise (e.g. break-ins, parking machine break down, water leaks, etc.) Provide assistance to hospitality guests with check in process when required Reporting of observations and incidents during patrol of public areas of Fort Garry Place, completing shift reports, work orders etc. by following standard procedures Continuous update of knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures and Fire Plans You are customer focused when providing service to tenants and customers, able to communicate confidently as you diffuse situations of potential conflict. You have sound analytical and decision-making skills that assist you in situations of ambiguity and have a calming presence in stressful situations. Qualifications and Experience Required: 3 years of experience as a Security Guard preferably in a “in-house” security team Possession of a Valid Permanent Manitoba Security Guard License Currently hold a valid Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check Completion of a certified Manitoba Security Guard Basic Training course Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable Provincial and municipal licensing requirements for Security Guards. Must be physically able to walk extensively in the course of rounds throughout the complex including coverage of multiple staircases Must be able to hear, speak and write clearly in English Must be available to work 11- or 12-hour shifts on days, evenings or nights We thank all applicants, but only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
