We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate communicator to help us tell our fantastic stories, to increase awareness of the difference the Trust makes to the health and wellbeing of people across Pennine Lancashire. You will be joining a proactive team, bringing with you a variety of communications skills to enhance the communications service. In this role you will be the key contact for two of our divisional areas and be comfortable in taking the driving seat to encourage and motivate services to use communications to shape and raise their profiles. You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to create engaging communications for internal and external audiences, work effectively with the media and other stakeholders and be able to work across traditional and digital channels throughout the Pennine Lancashire footprint. The role is also responsible for leading on day to day contact with the media, fielding press calls, horizon scanning and anticipating both positive and negative media interest across all platforms. Main duties to include: To lead on communications and engagement activity, including internal, external and digital communications requirements for the Trust. Commission, write and co-ordinate interesting and persuasive stories to support photo opportunities and events for both local and national media and for use in local, regional and national media. Work with key stakeholders across the Trust to support the delivery of their annual plans and key projects. Meet with members of the public, patients and their relatives in a knowledgeable and sensitive manner to ensure a feeling of confidence in them sharing their personal stories about both the Trust. Then converting their stories into usable content for the purpose of marketing and public relations services. Work with the Senior Communications and Engagement Manager to manage the Trust’s media relations service, responding in a timely and accurate manner to journalist, briefing journalists on sensitive and contentious issues and providing support to the Senior Communications and Engagement Manager and assistance to other staff in responding to media requests. Pre-empt negative news stories and manage misinformation from external sources, taking appropriate action to rectify and diffuse confrontational issues with members of the press and public. Use influence, persuasion and negotiations skills when approached by journalists on high profile issues. Using professional integrity to ensure the reputation of the organisation is protected Act as an ambassador for the Trust with media, patients, public, external organisations and other key stakeholders.
