The region includes substantial areas of national and state parks, lakes, rivers and coastal wilderness areas and is home to Australia's largest navigable inland water system - the Gippsland Lakes. Position overview This is a full time – limited tenure up to 12 months position based in Bairnsdale/Lakes Entrance. The purpose of the role is to ensure the peace, order, safety and amenity of the Shire by; providing guidance and information to the community and staff members to ensure compliance with relevant acts, regulations and local laws. Also investigating complaints and developing solutions using mediation and negotiation skills and initiate enforcement action where necessary. What you will need to succeed To be successful in this role you will have: A relevant qualification and experience in Law Enforcement or a preparedness to undertake training pertinent to the role. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to utilise information technology applicable to the role. Good customer service skills, conflict/dispute resolution and negotiating skills. A current, valid Victorian driver’s licence. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Working with Children Check, Pre-Employment Medical Check and current Police Check.
