Position Summary: The ELICOS (English Language) Teacher is part of the Academic Team and is responsible for delivering a superior student learning experience through the delivery of classroom instruction, tutorials and student assessment as defined in the EC Teacher Standards. As part of the Academic Team the teacher, in collaboration with the Director of Studies, sets individual learning and development goals and actively seeks opportunities to further develop teaching practice. Key Responsibilities: Check work notices and announcements. Keep current with school policies and company aims. Check work email daily. Conduct peer observations. Assist Director of Studies in piloting new materials and programs. Participate in internal CPD events. Provide occasional substitute coverage. Follow the directives in the employee handbook and teacher manual. Set development goals in conjunction with the DoS based on observations, feedback and individual areas of interest. Seek feedback from students, peers and manager. Attend staff meetings and training sessions as directed by the Director of Studies. Encourage students on academic contracts and improvement plans through monitoring and support. Provide students with focused tutorials. Set and mark homework and tests according to the EC assessment rubrics. Complete class administration in a timely manner, including: Records of Work, student attendance, Student assessment reports. Plan and deliver assigned by the DoS in accordance with EC Teacher Standards. Duties assigned include, but are not be limited to the following: Participates in in-company and industry events and trainings and promotes and facilitates best practice through active collaboration with other EC teachers. Takes an active interest in self-development and creates and achieves development goals. Works in the school team and the teaching team in a professional manner. Completes all administrative duties in a timely manner. Provides feedback and support that encourages the learners to develop both their language skills and their learning autonomy. Creates lessons that are motivating and engaging with a focus on learning and progress. Establishes a positive learning environment for all learners, ensuring that they feel supported in their learning and able to take risks with language. Education Required: Degree TESOL certificate (CELTA or equivalent). The TESOL qualification must include a teaching practicum. Experience Required: Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver high quality language lessons Demonstrated ability to work with new technologies for teaching and administration Experience in teaching mixed-nationality adult classes Availability for casual hours, or for emergency relief and short-term teaching on evening and day classes.
