We provide the motion picture post production industry with technologies and services. These include: Approval and alignment of select studios to mix Dolby soundtracks based on technical requirements. Providing and supporting audio renderers and encoders to the Dolby approved studios. Contracting movies to use Dolby technologies and attending final mixes of these films to ensure high quality. Mastering of trailers and commercials for digital cinema from our Transfer Bay located in Soho, London. Support for digital cinema mastering facilities and laboratories producing cinema content. Screenings at our state-of-the-art Dolby Vision & Atmos cinema in the heart of Soho, London External screening services for top film industry events (premieres, press screenings, cast and crew screenings, etc.). Dolby Vision colour grading (theatrical and home entertainment) Support and encoding for Dolby Atmos Home Theatre music, film and episodic content. Dolby Atmos music project support 3 student placements are available: Screening Room Support Engineer Transfer Bay Engineer / Tech Ops Support Engineer Transfer Bay Engineer / Tech Ops Support Engineer Intern - Screening Room Support Engineer (x1) This engineer is primarily responsible for supporting the Ray Dolby Theatre in Soho Square in an operational, technical and administrative capacity with the Screening Room Manager. This includes room maintenance and the running of screenings in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, as well as any other playback format desired by our clients. Additionally, they will support the Cinema Business Group with a variety of jobs within our technical operations. This role involves direct liaison with top industry professionals in the postproduction community, who hire the screening room. This role has regular evening and weekend work, particularly during the awards season which our staff are expected to cover. Intern - Transfer Bay Engineer / Tech Ops Support Engineer, London (x2) These 2 equivalent positions have shared roles & responsibilities; the Dolby Transfer Bay and supporting our technical operations in the office. Located within the heart of Soho, the Transfer Bay provides mastering facilities for trailers and commercials, providing QC and content distribution via Aspera and FTP for digital formats including Dolby Atmos and 35mm print releases. This involves dealing directly with the top postproduction studios located in Soho and internationally. It is a business with defined operating hours requiring attentive organised support. Working within Technical Operations, the successful candidate will help support Dolby’s active content creation environment. From the initial colour grade determining look and feel, through mastering, quality check and exhibition, the candidate will gain insight into all the key stages required to produce industry leading content. Day to day responsibilities may include; Grading suite set up and shut down Monitor / projector calibration Data wrangling and IO Mastering and QC (Quality Check) Video routing and cabling KVM support Basic IT / Network support Additional duties will include covering the Ray Dolby Theatre screening room, supporting the screening room engineer and manager as required. This role has regular evening and weekend work, particularly during the awards season which our staff are expected to cover. Please note that all these placements are for students who are currently on the second year of a university course, and eligible to take a placement sandwich year.
