Archivist Permanent Part-time ($33.50/hour – 2020 rates- Under Review) Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services the Archivist undertakes professional archival work of considerable complexity in the management and operation of the Municipal Archives, exercising considerable independence of judgement and action. The Archivist collects, accessions, arranges, describes and preserves a wide variety of historical records relating to the municipality. In addition to providing access to archival resources, the Archivist conducts research and provides written and verbal responses to reference questions from a variety of clients. The Archivist plans and delivers public outreach programs to promote an appreciation and understanding of Oak Bay’s history and manages a volunteer program to support community engagement. Our ideal candidate will have a degree in archival studies or similar degree and a minimum of two years of directly related experience in an archives, library or museum, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience, including supervisory experience.
