Job Title: RF Communications Technologist Location: Allentown, PA 18101 Duration: 9 Months Contract with strong possibility of extension Position Summary: Client is deploying a Smart Meter network. The successful candidate will have a RF wireless background. The RF Communications Technologist supports wireless communications infrastructure operations, maintains and repairs wireless backhaul systems. They are also in charge of monitoring all events and triaging event alerts in the communications and wireless environment and escalate exception conditions. Planning and Design: Responsible for capacity and utilization system enhancements, planning, and design Support internal work groups for add/move/changes of RF wireless mesh infrastructure Incident Investigation and Corrective Response: Operate within prescribed guidelines to troubleshoot, diagnose problems, and restore communication and wireless system services (e.g., RF mesh network) as quickly as possible while limiting business impact Program, troubleshoot, and maintain RF mesh communication systems, digital multiplex, microwave systems and satellite communication systems Provide customer support for issues that require hands-on service related to wireless backhaul systems Triage outage / incident locations to empower efficient responses Support the communications and wireless systems service management lifecycle, ensuring client satisfaction and management of risk to services Conduct root-cause analysis to eliminate reoccurring issues Maintenance: Complete necessary break fix, design, and engineering technology changes for communications and wireless systems as part of regular maintenance Other: Excitement, curiosity, and passion for shaping the future through digital technology Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues with multiple internal groups and vendors Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks Highly self-motivated and directed with attention to detail Proven ability to collaborate and build strong relationships with customers Easily adapts to changing circumstances Understands business goals and strategic priorities Promotes respect and can work effectively with diverse groups and environments Preferred Qualifications Experience with Cisco wireless / cellular infrastructure Experience with Landis and Gyr RF Mesh wireless infrastructure Experience with Fiber and leased-line telecommunications infrastructure Experience with RF troubleshooting equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, Antenna Sweeps, AC/DC power meters) Experience with RF interference investigations and resolution Ability to establish and maintain the appropriate programs to recover the systems in the event of a disaster or security threat Presents a creative approach to problems Experience supporting fast-changing business organizations Bachelor’s Degree required. Preferably in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Job Types: Full-time, Contract Experience: Landis and Gyr RF Mesh wireless infrastructure: 2 years (Preferred) Fiber and leased-line telecommunications infrastructure: 2 years (Required) Cisco wireless / cellular infrastructure: 4 years (Required)
