Summary Operates a computerized telecommunications system. Job Duties Processes calls accurately; memorizes extension numbers. o Maintains, programs, and takes responsibility for the paging and cellular phone systems used by hospital personnel conducting hospital business. o Relays calls appropriately, locates doctors and others, and assists those who need it. o Records special requests by patients and doctors Prioritizes emergency calls. o Responds to disaster information; knows procedures and codes. o Monitors fire alarms and other emergency panels; notifies Fire Department and Security of any malfunctions. o Notifies appropriate personnel of pending and emergency surgeries and processes transport of expired patients to funeral homes. Performs related paperwork. o Maintains lists of hospital personnel needed in emergency situations. o Prepares daily "on call" list for physicians. Attention to detail Fast paced environment Education and/or Other Requirements High School graduate or equivalent. Two year computer-related degree preferred; or sufficient experience with a working knowledge of PC's and related software. Multi-line phone experience preferred.
