The Opportunity | Finance Manager The Finance Manager is responsible for maintaining the general ledger of INDAL such that timely financial and management reports are produced for senior management and corporate office in compliance to both GAAP and Sarbox. Location: Mississauga, ON The Challenge: Ensure all employees perform their work according to the Quality Management System (QMS). Establish self as a credible resource with management and corporate/headquarters. Gain an appreciation of the skills and capabilities of the function with particular focus on maintaining the current team environment and strong financial controls. Understand the unique capabilities of INDAL Technologies, the product/service offerings that differentiate the company and the resulting vast and complex accounting issues. Direct the Accounting function in a manner designed to safeguard assets, meet statutory and internal reporting requirements, provide timely, meaningful reporting of results, through the maintenance of the General Ledgers and associated transactions. Support the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process. Ensure the appropriate internal accounting controls and processes are in place including testing, documentation, segregation of duties and training of staff. Communicate in this regard to Senior Management, including recommendations for improvement. Coordinate and manage the external and internal audit process including planning, timing and preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation. Provide the supporting information and documentation required for determining tax provisions and preparing tax returns. Provide career development for department staff in a team oriented atmosphere. Continually identify and implement best practices. Assist with special projects and other tasks assigned by the Controller. Takes every reasonable precaution to protect the health and safety of direct reports including the: Establishment of safe work procedures. Education of staff and the orientation of new workers. Appointment of competent supervision. Performance of frequent workplace inspections. Immediate reporting of accidents and incidents and participation in their investigations. Functional areas reporting to this position are: Initiation of action required to correct substandard conditions. A/R Administrator Project/Finance Analysts Your Expertise: A minimum of 10 years progressive financial experience, including supervision of junior staff. Technically strong in accounting principles, practices and procedures and well versed in internal controls and governance. Hands on experience in percentage completion revenue recognition and foreign exchange transactions would be a definite asset. Experience with Corporate reporting, budgeting, tax compliances, and internal audits Proficient with spreadsheets -- MS Excel is mandatory. Experience with consolidation software would be an asset. Proven ability to develop and implement changes improving business effectiveness. Experience using business system MRP required.
