Facilities Supervisor Full time Position Covenant House helps youth ignite their potential and reclaim their lives. View Our Culture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFlhDTljow0&feature=youtu.be Overview: In this role the candidate will be responsible to provide a clean, safe, healthy environment by requiring the highest standards and quality of work from the Caretakers, and maintenance staff while providing these supervisees with continuous training, supervision and support. This is a hands on position. Responsibilities: Implementation of the Covenant House mission statement and principles as they pertain to the physical facilities area Direct supervision of 11 to 13 full-time/part-time care taking/maintenance staff Formal supervision and performance appraisals of all supervisees. Responsible for training, planning, and monitoring work, monitoring staff performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems Coordinate preventive and emergency repairs for buildings Coordinate staff training and development Coordinate maintenance contracts Coordinate and supervise external contractors including inspection of work Complete daily inspections of both facilities, recommend, and schedule painting, repairs, and minor renovations Supervise management of HVAC, preventative maintenance and other physical facilities-related systems Recommend and provide quotations for repairs from external contractors Inspect facilities with the Facilities Coordinator for cleanliness, housekeeping requirements including washrooms, bedrooms, and kitchen area Ensure outside grounds and courtyard are well maintained (including snow removal during the winter months) Ensure staff comply with all applicable health & safety and labour policies Maintain an "open door" policy Review and update staffing requirements Orient and train new employees with Agency buildings, emergency fire safety systems, health & safety systems, WHMIS and maintenance policies & procedures Interview and recommend new employees Operate and maintain a computerized maintenance work order system Provide weekly and monthly reports as required Complete purchasing requisitions for materials and supplies for the department and monitor department budget Ability to adhere to all organizational policies and procedures and ability to work under tight deadlines/time frames and resolve problems required Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels within the Agency, as well as with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds Support, facilitate, and assist the Associate Director, Operations & Food Services with respect to the facilities in order to provide a high standard of service and maintenance with the Agency. Skills, Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience of facilities maintenance and operations with 2 years of supervisory experience. Post secondary Engineering Diploma, Building Environmental Systems or equivalent. Knowledge and experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC system. Good leadership skills and experience in monitoring project budgets. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrate initiative, critical thinking and a self-directed working style. Proficient and knowledgeable in computer maintenance management system. What we offer: Meaningful work.
